Abheejit is a multifarious individual, with experience across non-profit, emerging tech (robotics, web3 & AI) and policy sectors. The words that define his persona are - Dreamer. Innovator. Orator. Researcher. Explorer. Poet. Batman.
Abheejit is a World Economic Forum awarded Top Innovator for his startup ekatra, and leads the non-profit Vruksh Ecosystems. As a community enabler he operates across South Asia, building Misfits, a social entrepreneurs’ community with over 500 members and 100+ partners. During his academic career, Abheejit published several research papers, delivered talks at Solar Physics conferences globally, and contributed to platforms like NASSCOM, Indian Maker Movement, Fab Foundation (an MIT Initiative), IEEE and VARSITI (community by International Space Science Institute) in different capacities.
A key achievement for him is being the only one in India & 5th person globally to build the Batpod (Batman’s Bike), which is a fully functioning replica from the Dark Knight Trilogy by Christopher Nolan, featuring Christian Bale. Being a hardcore Maker at heart and a Mechanical engineer by education, he works on inclusive projects which leverage technology to improve lives, backed with extensive experience right from breaking and making things since childhood to building futuristic robots. Abheejit is one of key voices in the Indian Maker Movement which started around 2013.
In his role as a consultant, he helps scale startups in their Zero to One journey, works with Investors & Venture Capital Funds to build a solid pipeline, and works with universities & government bodies on Innovation & Entrepreneurship. He served in the Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation for the Swachh Bharat Mission, as a Fellow with Tata Trusts. He led a nation-wide hackathon on Sanitation with the Ministry, and partners like Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Reckitt Benckiser & UNICEF. Currently, he’s building a web3 community in India with BuildSpace, building solutions around crypto, metaverse & NFTs for Social Good through his non-profit.
On a voluntary front, he plays several key roles in some of the best organizations globally. Abheejit has been involved with Engineers Without Borders, Vidarbha Industries Association, Global Shapers Community, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Atal Innovation Mission, and started a regional startup community of over 500 members in Central India.
